Position Overview

The Naval Nuclear Laboratory is currently seeking a qualified Radiological Controls Trainer to enhance our Radiological Training Unit. This unit is pivotal in overseeing radiological training, which includes conducting practical exercises, assessments, and drills.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver training to various Site personnel, including Engineering Laboratory Technicians, through both classroom instruction and hands-on practical training.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable regulations and standards in training programs.
  • Assess the performance of training organizations and students to maintain high educational standards.

Qualifications

Candidates must meet one of the following criteria:

  • High school diploma or equivalent with qualification as a Naval Nuclear Propulsion Operator (or commercial nuclear equivalent) and a minimum of 17 years of relevant experience.
  • Associate's degree from an accredited institution or Journeyman's papers or vocational certificate in a related field, along with a minimum of 15 years of relevant experience.
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in a related field with at least 10 years of relevant experience.

Additional Skills

Successful candidates will demonstrate:

  • Comfort with public speaking and a solid understanding of adult learning methodologies.
  • Proficiency in technical writing.
  • Experience in NNPP radiological controls or the capability to qualify as a Supervisory Radiological Controls Technician (SRCT) and Radiological Controls Training Instructor (RCTI).
