Position Overview

The Custodial Services Associate is responsible for performing essential cleaning and maintenance tasks within university facilities. Key Responsibilities

The Custodial Services Associate will:
  • Execute semi-skilled cleaning duties to maintain the cleanliness and orderliness of university premises.
  • Assist in the arrangement and movement of furniture and equipment for cleaning purposes or special events, which may involve lifting and setting up tables, chairs, and other items.
  • Manage snow and ice removal from entrances, walkways, and sidewalks to ensure safe access.

Work Schedule

This position operates on a 3rd shift schedule:
  • Hours: 11:00 PM - 7:00 AM
  • Days Off: Wednesday and Thursday

Qualifications

Education:
Completion of at least the 10th grade is required, with a preference for a high school diploma or equivalent. Relevant custodial experience may substitute for formal education.

Experience:
A minimum of one year in custodial services is required, demonstrating knowledge of cleaning methods, equipment, and supplies.

Skills:
The candidate must possess the ability to read and comprehend English to follow written instructions and safety guidelines regarding cleaning agents and procedures. Cultural awareness and respect for diversity are essential.

Physical Requirements:
This role requires the ability to lift and transport custodial supplies and equipment weighing up to 75 pounds regularly, with occasional lifting of up to 100 pounds. The position demands prolonged standing, walking, bending, and reaching.

Additional Information

Some roles within this classification may be designated as essential, requiring attendance during severe weather conditions. The position may involve exposure to hazardous cleaning chemicals, necessitating adherence to safety protocols.
