Medical Specimen Technician II

We are currently seeking a dedicated Specimen Collector II to join our team at Millennium Health. This full-time position plays a crucial role in ensuring the integrity of specimen collection and processing.
Location: Portland, Oregon
Schedule: Full Time, with variable hours
Key Responsibilities:
- Collect urine and oral fluid (saliva) specimens from patients.
- Process and package specimens for shipping to the laboratory.
- Act as a liaison between healthcare providers and the laboratory.
- Document patient details, physician orders, and relevant laboratory information accurately.
- Address any specimen-related concerns regarding billing or patient information.
- Manage and maintain inventory of collection supplies at the site.
- Conduct observed collections for male patients when necessary.
- Travel between multiple facilities may be required, including occasional overnight stays.
Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will possess:
- A minimum of 6 months of experience as a specimen collector or at least 1 year in a medical support role.
- At least 2 years of customer service experience may substitute for medical experience.
- Proficiency in using smartphones and computers.
- Preferred experience in phlebotomy.
- A valid driver's license.
- Familiarity with medical billing and diagnostic codes is advantageous.
- Commitment to adhering to HIPAA, HiTrust, and confidentiality standards.
- Ability to comply with administrative, physical, and technical cybersecurity protocols.
- A high school diploma or equivalent.
- Physical capability to sit for extended periods, with occasional walking and lifting up to 20 lbs.
