POSITION SUMMARY
The Surgical Nurse First Assistant plays a crucial role in the operating room, providing essential support to surgeons during procedures. This role encompasses various responsibilities, including draping, suturing, and ensuring optimal exposure of the surgical site. The ideal candidate will possess expertise in assisting with diverse surgical interventions across all age groups.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Document patient care information accurately in electronic or paper records.
- Utilize effective interviewing techniques to gather patient history and provide necessary interventions.
- Identify and adhere to care standards relevant to the patient demographic.
- Deliver patient care utilizing critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
- Administer medications safely and evaluate patient outcomes to ensure needs are met.
- Complete all documentation thoroughly and legibly.
- Provide constructive feedback and engage in problem-solving through established channels.
- Manage care assignments efficiently and communicate effectively with team members.
- Commit to ongoing professional development and maintain clinical competencies.
- Anticipate the needs of the surgical team and support new staff through mentorship.
- Maintain open communication with patients and their families throughout the care continuum.
EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
- Current RN or APRN license in the State of Florida.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in perioperative nursing, demonstrating proficiency as both a scrub and circulating nurse.
- Completion of a Registered Nurse First Assistant course recognized by the Florida Board of Nursing.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from an accredited provider.
- Proficient in the nursing process and its application in clinical settings.
- Intermediate computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
