We are currently looking for a Lead Quality Assurance Engineer to enhance our operations in Cudahy, WI. The ideal candidate will leverage their engineering expertise to facilitate new product launches, optimize costs, minimize process variations, eliminate waste, and reduce defect opportunities. This role will support the Senior Manager of Quality in maintaining the Quality Management System and overseeing the APQP/PPAP processes required by our clients.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Foster effective communication and collaboration with clients to consistently meet or exceed their expectations.
  • Engage in Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) initiatives for new product introductions, which includes reviewing customer engineering standards and drawings while demonstrating a thorough understanding of product development lifecycles, design changes, document control, and process validation methodologies.
  • Lead cross-functional teams during APQP efforts to develop Process Flow, PFMEA, Control Plans, SPC, and Measurement System methodologies, focusing on cost reduction, waste elimination, and defect prevention.
  • Utilize various problem-solving tools such as cause/effect diagrams, pareto analysis, and FMEA to guide cross-functional teams in resolving issues.
  • Apply advanced statistical techniques, including Regression Analysis, Hypothesis Testing, and Design of Experiments, to identify and validate critical process and product characteristics, ensuring customer requirements are met efficiently.
  • Oversee the communication of Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) requirements to suppliers and manage final PPAP submissions to clients for new and revised products.
  • Analyze Cost of Poor Quality (COPQ) metrics and initiate engineered solutions to address reject PPM, both internally and externally.
  • Familiarize yourself with existing manufacturing equipment and processes, contributing to engineering solutions that enhance manufacturing efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Implement Lean and Six Sigma principles to improve operations and reduce costs associated with our products.
  • Lead or assist in the adoption of new manufacturing technologies, process controls, and improvements.
  • Support our Quality Management System by participating in internal and external audits, including ISO 9001/AS 9100, Nadcap, and customer-specific process audits, while ensuring compliance with industry standards.
  • Assist in external audits related to Supply Chain Management, including supplier selection, approval, and development.

Basic Qualifications:

  • 6+ years of experience in Quality Assurance or Engineering, with a preference for Manufacturing Engineering experience.
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Metallurgical, Materials Science, Mechanical, Industrial, or a related field.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Lean/Six Sigma black belt or ASQ-CQE certification is preferred.
  • 3+ years of experience with various manufacturing processes, including Forging, Heat Treat, Machining, and Non-destructive Testing.

Essential Skills:

  • Proficient in interpreting engineering models/prints, GD&T, measurement systems, process control, and statistical analysis.
  • Proven track record in problem-solving and continuous improvement within manufacturing processes.
  • Experience leading pFMEAs and employing risk mitigation strategies to minimize nonconforming products.
  • Strong communication skills and a solid technical background to navigate challenges with clients and the supply chain.
