We are seeking an exceptional Director of Environmental Laboratory Sciences to lead our Division of Environmental Laboratory Sciences (DELS) and the Senator William X. Wall Experiment Station (WES) facility. This is a unique opportunity for a highly skilled professional to make a real difference in shaping the environmental future of Massachusetts.
About the Role
This position is based in our WES facility, located at 37 Shattuck Street, Lawrence, MA. A hybrid schedule may be offered. The Director of DELS and WES will supervise and manage all operations and activities of the Division and Station facility with the assistance of senior management/leadership team members.
Responsibilities
- Manage and supervise environmental laboratory scientific operations and activities conducted under three major DELS laboratories to consistently provide timely high-quality analytical data required to support MassDEP programs and regional offices.
- Oversee laboratory quality assurance and data management activities, including independent overall Quality Assurance (QA) Program for all DELS laboratories.
- Supervise DELS and WES Facility Administration, including fiscal management of the DELS and WES Facility Cost Center operating budget and management of the entire DELS and WES facility physical plant.
- Lead the DELS Laboratory Certification Program (LCP), which includes management of the certification of commercial and municipal laboratories located in Massachusetts or in other states.
- Coordinate DELS laboratory services with MassDEP programs and regional offices to further integrate DELS laboratory services and design new laboratory testing to support their environmental monitoring programs.
Requirements
To be considered for this role, applicants must have at least six years of full-time or equivalent part-time professional experience in business administration, public administration, clinical administration, or a related field, with at least two years in a supervisory or managerial capacity.
