Clinical Informatics Specialist
Overview
The Clinical Informatics Specialist is responsible for leading the ongoing enhancement and optimization of clinical systems and technologies that influence patient care and operational efficiency across the organization.
This role requires a deep understanding of clinical workflows, relevant regulatory requirements, and principles of quality and safety improvement within the designated clinical domain. The Specialist not only possesses expertise in core technologies but also comprehends the workflows and applications that support their primary focus area.
Salary: $41.16/hr - $74.52/hr
The salary for this position is determined based on specific qualifications, relevant experience, skills, performance, and internal equity.
Job Responsibilities:
  • Lead clinical informatics initiatives to ensure they are strategically planned and executed using evidence-based methodologies to promote responsible and efficient patient care.
  • Act as an Informatics leader, bridging the gap between personnel, processes, clinical expertise, and technology.
  • Document requirements that will facilitate the development of tools, reports, and systems aligned with organizational business objectives.
  • Employ the SBAR framework to formulate recommendations for informatics solutions.
  • Ensure that workflows and processes are compliant with regulatory standards and best practices.
  • Identify necessary system modifications to adhere to policies and procedures efficiently.
  • Leverage data to drive changes in processes, workflows, and behaviors regarding the effective use of electronic medical records (EMR) and other clinical technologies.
  • Serve as a resource for end users regarding information systems and technology; effectively communicate system updates, workflow modifications, and downtime protocols.
  • Engage in the creation and dissemination of communications related to technology through active internal networking, clinical liaison roles, newsletters, announcements, and other technology-based channels for healthcare professionals.
  • Conduct regular rounding in patient care areas to gather insights on facility-specific workflows, patient throughput, and challenges related to technology solutions.
  • Monitor outcomes and assess user adoption of existing and newly implemented information technology and functionalities.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Post-graduate degree in Nursing Informatics, Health Informatics, or related fields. Alternatively, a clinical background with a post-graduate degree and one year of Informatics experience is acceptable.
  • A minimum of four years of experience in Clinical/Nursing/Health Informatics is required, with direct experience in Epic applications preferred.
  • Completion of the EPIC Clinical Content Builder series of classes and certification or badges related to workflows and applications within the first year or longer with approval from the Senior Manager.
  • Professional Informatics certification (ANCC, AMIA 10x10, etc.) is required within 12 months of hire if the Master's degree is not in Informatics.
