We are seeking a highly skilled Occupational Therapist Assistant to join our team at WVU Medicine. As an Occupational Therapist Assistant, you will work under the supervision of an occupational therapist to conduct medically prescribed occupational therapy. Your primary responsibility will be to implement treatment programs established by the OTR for assigned patients to identify, prevent, and minimize physical disabilities and/or pain of patients.
Key responsibilities include:
- Implementing treatment programs established by the OTR for assigned patients
- Identifying and addressing psychological needs of patients and family
- Managing and operating equipment safely and correctly
- Consulting with other departments as appropriate to collaborate in patient care and performance improvement activities
- Documenting care and ensuring that patient charges are accurate and entered on a timely basis
Requirements include:
- Associate degree in Occupational Therapy Assistant
- Current or temporary licensure in the state of West Virginia, or applicable state licensure where services will be performed
- Obtain certification in Basic Life Support within 30 days of hire date
Preferred qualifications include one (1) year of experience in the setting of the open position, (acute care, outpatient, SNF, HH).
Work requires strength and/or stamina, lifting, moving, stooping, reaching, standing, walking, and carrying of materials and equipment weighing 40+lbs. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
Exposure to communicable diseases, body fluids, and different types of cleaning and laundry chemicals is expected. Ability to organize and prioritize time and tasks to achieve a well-coordinated work effort and to effectively meet work schedules is required.
This is a non-exempt position with a scheduled weekly hours of 20. WVU Medicine is proud to be an Equal Opportunity employer.
