About the Role

Burns & McDonnell is seeking a highly skilled Assistant Structural Engineer to join our Mission Critical team. As a key member of our team, you will play a crucial role in designing and developing world-class data center projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in the structural design of projects from conceptual phase to design completion.
  • Modify and review production drawings for various projects, including power plants, process facilities, and industrial facilities.
  • Design structural components for project needs and requirements.
  • Apply knowledge of structural engineering concepts, principles, and practices.
  • Assist with research and compile project-related data.
  • Correct and update drawings provided by senior engineers.
  • Assist with client presentations, shop drawing review, and contract administration.
  • Perform field inspections, measurements, or calculations for public and private clients.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Structural Engineering or related field from an ABET-accredited program.
  • Prior internship and/or related consulting experience preferred.
  • Basic knowledge of standard structural engineering techniques, principles, and procedures.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work methodically and analytically in a quantitative problem-solving environment.
  • Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite and structural analysis programs.
  • Strong attention to detail, facilitation, team building, collaboration, organization, and problem-solving skills.
  • Minimum of 3.0 GPA strongly preferred.
  • Involvement on campus or in the community preferred.
  • Candidates must be legally authorized to work permanently in the country where this position is located.
