Job Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled Postdoctoral Research Fellow to join our interdisciplinary research team at the Terasaki Institute for Biomedical Innovation. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work on cutting-edge projects in one of the following areas: Computational Biology, Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning, or Organ Transplantation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and conduct original research projects in the respective field, either independently or in collaboration with other team members.
  • Develop and implement advanced computational models, algorithms, or experimental protocols to address complex research questions.
  • Analyze and interpret complex data sets using statistical and computational techniques.
  • Prepare high-quality manuscripts for publication in peer-reviewed journals and present research findings at conferences and seminars.
  • Contribute to the writing of grant proposals and progress reports.
  • Mentor and supervise junior group members involved in research projects.
  • Collaborate with internal and external research groups, fostering interdisciplinary collaborations.

Qualifications:

  • Ph.D. degree in Computer Science, Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Biomedical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Expertise in one or more of the following areas: Computational Biology, AI/Machine Learning, Organ Transplantation.
  • Strong programming skills and experience with relevant programming languages (e.g., Python, R, C++, MATLAB).
  • Proven record of research accomplishments, as evidenced by publications in peer-reviewed journals.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a collaborative research environment.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with big data analysis, machine learning techniques, or computational modeling.
  • Familiarity with bioinformatics tools and databases.
  • Knowledge of organ transplantation procedures, immunology, or regenerative medicine (for organ transplantation-related projects).
  • Prior experience in grant writing and project management.

This is a full-time position with the possibility of extension based on performance. A competitive compensation and benefits package will be provided.
