We are seeking a skilled LPN nurse to join our team at Clinch Valley Medical Center. As a LPN-Skilled PRN nurse, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality patient care and contributing to the success of our healthcare team.
Key Responsibilities- Under the supervision of an RN, carry out and document assigned tasks and nursing interventions as addressed on the care plan, and review and revise the nurse's care plan.
- Monitor each patient for physical and psychosocial needs and alter the plan of care as discussed with the RN and have input into acuity levels, prepare for OR, and special procedures.
- Administer medication by all routes, perform venipuncture and IV therapy after training is complete.
- Direct and assist in the supervision of Nursing Assistants and UC staff.
- Provide nutritional support as necessary (oral, enteral, peripheral) except Hyperalimentation.
- Evaluate, communicate, and document care delivered to other members of the healthcare team through shift report, nursing care plans, progress notes/nursing notes, direct communications to team members, etc.
- Insert, monitor, and maintain NG tubes, urinary catheters, etc.
- Assist physicians with exams, dressing changes, etc. as necessary.
- Receive physicians' orders, record, and complete.
- Assist with discharge instruction to patient and/or family regarding necessary information to continue care at home.
- Utilize both Infection Control and safety policies and procedures to ensure a safe environment.
- Recognize emergency situations and respond appropriately.
- Review and perform shift assessments and report any variations/concerns to the RN.
- Give and receive report on assigned patients.
- May be required to perform other assignments from time to time as requested by the Department Leader.
- Current Virginia License at time of hire date or must be able to show eligibility for licensure.
- No previous clinically related nursing experience required. The employee will complete a general orientation program of sufficient duration and content to prepare them for specific duties in the hospital within thirty (30) days of hire date. Unit-specific orientation is completed on the nursing unit.
- Must meet and maintain proficiency requirements of the unit. CPR card holder is required.
