At Alta Southwest, we're seeking a Special Inspector to join our team. As a Special Inspector, you'll be the day-to-day eyes and ears on job sites, providing inspections of various construction activities. You'll prepare reports documenting both structural special inspection and construction materials testing in accordance with building code requirements and project-specific construction documents.

Inspectors work under the supervision and direction of a Professional Engineer and/or Project Manager, although work activities are generally performed unsupervised. Essential roles and responsibilities include performing testing, observation, and inspection as directed, reading and interpreting construction drawings and specifications, drafting inspection reports for review, and communicating information to Project Managers and other personnel.

The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 2-4 years' experience as an Engineering Technician or other applicable experience. A High School Diploma or GED is required, and a valid driver's license with a clean Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) is necessary. Previous experience with certifications pertaining to Arizona Technical Testing Institute (ATTI), American Concrete Institute (ACI), Radiation Safety, and Nuclear Density Gauge operation is a plus.

This role requires the ability to work on elevated surfaces and/or confined spaces, lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects weighing no less than 40 lbs, and walk, stand, crouch, or run on narrow, slippery, or erratically moving surfaces. The physical and mental demands described are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
