10S Trauma Stepdown is a dynamic and fast-paced unit within Vanderbilt University Medical Center, providing care to adult patients with traumatic injuries. Our team is committed to delivering exceptional patient care, while promoting a culture of safety, respect, and compassion.

Job Summary

The Clinical Staff Leader is a key member of the Nursing leadership team, responsible for leading a cohort of staff members and contributing to the overall management of the unit. This role requires strong clinical expertise, leadership skills, and a passion for delivering exceptional patient care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Interact with and contribute to the professional development of staff members
  • Define standards for quality patient care
  • Develop, manage, and evaluate area-based work
  • Manage multiple projects and maintain alignment with strategic plan and vision
  • Act as clinical leader and facilitate education for staff on clinical standards
Technical Capabilities
  • Clinical Expertise: Demonstrates mastery of patient care, including patient assessment and treatment, care planning, patient education, and evidence-based practice
  • Quality Management: Continuously analyzes and evaluates work processes to improve quality and efficiency
  • Business Results: Implements measures to attain business results and tracks progress in meeting goals and objectives
  • Operations Planning: Demonstrates ability to anticipate resource needs, identify discrete tasks, set priorities, define dependencies, schedule activities, meet deadlines, and organize work
  • People Management: Conducts performance reviews, delegates tasks, coaches subordinates, and demonstrates team building techniques
  • Leadership: Sets example in challenging situations, communicates team and unit goals, and demonstrates leadership and initiative
  • Compliance: Explains and applies basic statutory instructions and escalates problems relating to rules and regulations
