Audubon is actively looking for a Lead Survey Technician - Party Chief to become part of our dynamic team. This position involves working across various locations and is crucial to our surveying operations. The Lead Survey Technician - Party Chief will report directly to the Survey Mapping Manager and Operations Manager, overseeing a team engaged in surveying tasks.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain regular communication with the Operations Manager and relevant Project Manager regarding daily survey activities.
- Collaborate with the company's Registered Land Surveyor or subcontracted Registered Land Surveyor to gather necessary data for projects requiring certified documentation.
- Ensure a thorough understanding of project scopes by staying in close contact with the applicable project manager.
- Download and transmit daily collected data files efficiently.
- Be prepared to assist clients in the field, ensuring proper attire and equipment are utilized.
- Exhibit leadership skills by guiding the survey crew and proficiently operating GPS, total stations, data collectors, and other surveying tools.
- Understand the scope of services for each job before mobilizing to ensure all necessary supplies and equipment are ready.
- Submit weekly time sheets and expense reports for all survey crew members, including photographic evidence of receipts for reimbursement.
- Obtain the correct job number for time sheets and expense reports.
- Contact the Survey and Mapping Manager for troubleshooting any technical issues encountered by the survey crew.
- Immediately notify the Operations Manager of any equipment malfunctions or damages.
- Serve as a mentor, providing training to new Survey Technicians as required.
- Participate in kick-off meetings with the Survey Manager and clients as necessary.
- Lead survey crews in various surveying services, including preliminary surveys, construction staking, as-built surveys, and more.
- Confirm with the Project Manager that all data meets client requirements before demobilizing from job sites.
- High School diploma or GED is required; coursework in land surveying and land law is a plus.
- A minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in various surveying tasks is required, with 5+ years preferred.
- Proficient knowledge of survey equipment is essential.
- Demonstrated ability to operate GPS, total stations, data collectors, and other surveying equipment is necessary.
- Familiarity with Trimble, Sokkia, RD Locators, and Pin Locators is beneficial.
- A valid driver's license and a clean driving record are mandatory.
- Experience with ESRI ArcMap, AutoCAD, Pathfinder, and Carlson is desirable.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel.
