Position Summary:

We are in search of a proactive and detail-oriented individual to fill the role of Temporary Laboratory Technician 2 within our Lab Operations team. This position involves conducting high-throughput greenhouse experiments, which encompass activities such as planting, harvesting, and organizing materials for greenhouse operations. Additionally, you will be tasked with processing soil samples, preparing soil slurries, and subsampling for various analyses, ensuring precision and accuracy in all tasks. Maintaining a tidy and organized workspace is essential, as is the ability to adhere to strict deadlines. The ideal candidate will be meticulous, possess basic laboratory skills such as pipetting, and demonstrate strong organizational and communication abilities. This role presents an excellent opportunity to collaborate with experts in agriculture, analytics, microbiome studies, and molecular biology, offering a rich learning experience in a cooperative environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct and oversee greenhouse experiments, including planting, monitoring, and harvesting crops.
  • Perform high-throughput processing of soil samples, including preparation, slurry creation, and subsampling for various analyses.
  • Adhere to all safety protocols and company practices established by Trace Genomics.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization in both greenhouse and laboratory settings, including cleaning tools and workspaces post-use.
  • Accurately document data and maintain comprehensive logs of experiments and processes.
  • Manage inventory of materials necessary for greenhouse and laboratory tasks.
  • Assist in troubleshooting and refining experimental procedures.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned to support the lab operations team.

Qualifications:

  • Must have the ability to transport yourself and others to the greenhouse from the local laboratory.
  • Proven track record of responsibility, punctuality, and reliability in previous positions.
  • Exceptional attention to detail with the capability to multitask and prioritize effectively.
  • Highly organized, ensuring a clean and efficient working environment.
  • Ability to meticulously follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Basic knowledge of life sciences, chemistry, or related fields is preferred, with relevant college coursework.
  • Experience in pipetting and familiarity with general laboratory equipment is advantageous.
  • Prior experience in a laboratory or greenhouse setting is beneficial.
  • Applicants must be at least 18 years old.

Working Conditions & Physical Requirements:

  • Must possess a valid driver's license with a good driving record, and be insurable under company policy.
  • Ability to lift and carry weights ranging from 25 to 50 lbs.
