  • Oversee the maintenance and repair of County vehicles and equipment, particularly those exceeding one ton, including heavy machinery.
  • Execute routine maintenance and diagnostic evaluations to guarantee optimal vehicle performance.
  • Carry out preventative maintenance on medium and heavy-duty equipment utilized by Public Works.
  • Perform essential service tasks such as oil changes, brake inspections, tire evaluations, and necessary repairs following vehicle assessments.
  • Conduct diagnostic and drivability evaluations, addressing concerns such as warning lights, anti-lock braking systems, airbags, and control modules.
  • Exhibit proficiency in diagnosing electrical and braking system issues.
  • Be available for snow removal responsibilities as needed.
  • Engage in special projects within the workshop, including the installation of new technologies in vehicles and managing mechanical repairs for damaged vehicles.
  • Assist in the enhancement of Public Works equipment and the decommissioning of retired vehicles for auction.

Minimum Qualifications: High School diploma or equivalent, two years of experience as a Mechanic I or a comparable combination of training and experience, along with a valid Driver's License.

Preferred Qualifications: ASE (Automotive Service Excellence) Certification.
