Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Project Manager/Electrical Engineer to join our team at Smith Seckman Reid. As a key member of our engineering design and consulting firm, you will be responsible for leading projects from conception to completion, ensuring timely delivery of high-quality results to our clients.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Confirm project scope and requirements with clients and stakeholders, working closely with our Client Relationship Managers and Location Leaders as needed.
  • Develop financial plans for projects, including negotiating fees and contracts, preparing proposal letters, and participating in man-hour budgeting processes.
  • Assist in developing project staffing plans and preliminary man-hour budgets with our Senior Project Managers, Client Relationship Managers, Department Heads, and Location Leaders.
  • Ensure that a Project Coordinator is assigned to each project and works with the client to complete the BIM Questionnaire, ensuring proper model setup, information flow, and management.
  • Participate in and learn how to structure project kick-off meetings to convey project scope, client expectations, and standards, man-hour budgets, and other essential information.
  • Work with our design team to confirm final man-hour budgets based on discipline work plans that identify tasks and hours to complete.
  • Schedule work, communicate schedule information to the project team, monitor manpower requirements, and assist in updating eResource with current man-hour projections.
  • Prepare and implement proactive Quality Assurance/Quality Control plans for projects.
  • Ensure that invoices are accurate and delivered in a timely manner, monitor and participate in collections of account receivables, and update projected monthly revenue earnings for each project.
  • Attend meetings with owners, clients, and architects, facilitate communication between clients and the project team, and document important issues.
  • Monitor project budgets throughout the project and work with the project team to schedule work in accordance with man-hour budgets.
  • Identify, negotiate, and administer fees for additional services as needed.
  • Build, develop, and grow business relationships vital to the success of the project and engage in business development activities with our current client base.
  • Perform risk assessments to develop response strategies and manage risks throughout the project.
  • Respond to contractors' and clients' requests for information quickly and efficiently.
  • Manage the Construction Administration process by designating CA personnel to ensure building systems are installed consistently with the design and predetermined quality standards.
  • Supervise the job closeout process to ensure documentation, lessons learned, and filings are complete.
  • Work alongside and engage with our Senior Project Managers, Client Relationship Managers, and Location Leaders to increase knowledge of project scope, budgeting, and revenue projections.
  • Actively attend internal and external training and other educational opportunities to obtain knowledge in necessary technical areas.
Requirements:
  • Technical or Bachelor's degree in one of the major technical disciplines practiced by our firm with ten years of practical experience on similar projects.
  • Professional Engineer Licensure.
  • Healthcare building design experience preferred.
  • Thorough knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
  • Knowledge of engineering theories and methodologies.
  • Knowledge of project approach and system design.
  • Basic accounting knowledge and ability to create and maintain budgets.
  • Comfortable working with clients.
