Nursing Professional Care Provider

The Nursing Professional Care Provider at Ephraim McDowell Health utilizes the nursing process and nursing standards to plan, provide, and direct nursing practice. This role involves utilizing practice elements as defined by the Kentucky Board of Nursing and adhering to the Ephraim McDowell Health nursing professional practice model. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering patient and family-centered care, which is central to practice and a foundation of caring, compassion, competence, communication, collaboration, and teamwork. Additionally, this role involves participating in shared nursing leadership to achieve positive outcomes, education, respect, dignity, and safety for patients and their families. The Nursing Professional Care Provider will also be accountable for leadership of self and others and will function as a charge nurse when designated. This role requires the demonstration of F.I.R.S.T. values (Friendliness, Innovation, Respect, Service, and Trust).
Working Conditions, Hazards, and Physical Effort
This role involves working in a well-lit, ventilated, and air-conditioned area. The schedule may consist of weekends, holidays, and shift work. The Nursing Professional Care Provider may be exposed to unpleasant odors, sights, and sounds. Long periods of stationary position, moving around the unit, and moving heavy objects are required. The role also involves risks exposure to disease, infection, and physical strain and assault. The Nursing Professional Care Provider must be able to move or position 50 lbs. independently.
Minimum Qualifications or Equivalents
The Nursing Professional Care Provider must have a graduate degree from an accredited ADN nursing program. No experience is required for this role. The successful candidate must hold a current license in the State of Kentucky and obtain Basic Life Support Certification within three months of employment. Additionally, the Nursing Professional Care Provider must obtain ACLS and NRP certifications within one year of employment and S.T.A.B.L.E. certification within the first year. Basic Fetal Monitor certification is also required within the first year, with Intermediate Fetal Monitoring certification required within the second year and Advanced Fetal Monitoring certification recommended within the third year. The Nursing Professional Care Provider is also expected to review the Intermediate or Advanced course every two years.
