Position Overview

Role Summary

The Certified Medical Assistant plays a vital role in supporting the healthcare team by assisting in the examination and treatment of patients under the supervision of a physician. This position encompasses a variety of essential tasks aimed at enhancing patient care and operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Escorting patients to examination rooms, recording vital signs, and documenting information in patient records.
  • Performing suture and staple removal, as well as providing basic wound care and first aid.
  • Assisting with casting, splinting, and managing durable medical equipment, including accurate documentation.
  • Conducting blood draws for PRP procedures under physician oversight.
  • Entering laboratory and diagnostic imaging orders, as well as handling clinical quality processes.
  • Preparing for injections and managing follow-ups on workers' compensation requests.
  • Coordinating diagnostic tests and scheduling subsequent appointments.
  • Engaging with insurance providers for pre-certification processes.
  • Distributing medical supplies as prescribed by the physician.
  • Maintaining cleanliness and organization of examination rooms and medical supplies.
  • Processing prescription refills and dispensing medications to patients as directed.
  • Conducting follow-up calls to postoperative patients to ensure recovery and documenting notes in patient files.
  • Confirming appointments for tests, labs, and procedures.
  • Managing voicemail and telephone communications promptly.
  • Retrieving and organizing surgical films for patient records.
  • Ensuring proper cleaning and sterilization of medical instruments and supplies.
  • Assisting with the merging of daily notes and documentation for physicians.
  • Providing coverage for team members during absences.
  • Acting as a medical assistant floater when required.
  • Traveling to different office locations as needed for coverage.
  • Translating for patients and staff when necessary.
  • Managing incoming faxes and completing disability documentation.
  • Running reports as required for compliance and quality assurance.

Qualifications

Applicants must possess:

  • Current Medical Assistant Certification or the ability to obtain certification within six months of employment.
  • Current CPR Certification.
  • Current Tuberculosis screening.

Education and Experience

A high school diploma or equivalent is required, along with twelve to eighteen months of relevant experience or training, or a suitable combination of education and experience.
