Job Summary

At Heart Hospital of Austin, we are seeking a highly skilled Pre-Op PACU Registered Nurse to join our team. This role offers a unique opportunity to provide exceptional patient care and work in a dynamic environment.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, implement, evaluate, and document nursing care for assigned patients.
  • Direct and deliver comprehensive nursing care to pre-op, post-anesthesia, and post-operative patients.
  • Complete an age-appropriate assessment on each assigned patient and create a specific plan of care upon patient arrival.
  • Obtain supplies, equipment, and medication needed for patient care.
  • Monitor the patient throughout the recovery phase.
  • Identify and correct airway obstructions, ensure uninterrupted oxygen therapy, and extubate patients.
  • Administer IV therapy.
  • Recognize and report variations in patient condition to the appropriate individuals (physician, anesthesiologist, clinical nurse coordinator).
  • Monitor patients for adverse reactions prior to transport from Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU).
  • Make rounds to check equipment cleanliness and appropriate storage.
  • Monitor narcotic and medication control.

Requirements

We are looking for a candidate with:

  • 1 year of clinical nursing experience as a Registered Nurse (RN)
  • Preop or PACU experience – preferred
