Benthic Research Specialist

Position Overview: The Florida Oceanographic Society is in search of a dedicated Research Scientist to enhance benthic research and restoration efforts within the Indian River Lagoon ecosystem. Key Responsibilities:
- Design and execute ecological studies focused on benthic environments, ensuring rigorous analysis and reporting.
- Maintain expertise in relevant scientific fields to support ongoing projects.
- Engage in professional development through training, seminars, and literature review.
- Secure funding for research and conservation projects related to benthic ecosystems.
- Present findings at scientific conferences and workshops.
- Oversee environmental permitting processes for various initiatives.
- Collaborate with various organizations on research and restoration activities.

Qualifications:
- A Master's degree in environmental or marine science from an accredited institution, along with four years of relevant professional experience.
- Proficiency in scientific writing, data analysis, and applied research methodologies.
- Strong project management and organizational skills to handle multiple projects effectively.
- Ability to work independently and demonstrate reliability.
- Familiarity with subtropical coastal ecosystems and their organisms.
- Physical capability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs and endure challenging outdoor conditions.
- Current driver's license and eligibility for automobile insurance.
- Competence in relevant software applications, including GIS and statistical programs.
