The Polysomnographic Technologist is a skilled professional responsible for conducting comprehensive sleep studies and providing exceptional patient care. This role requires a high level of technical expertise, attention to detail, and effective communication skills.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct sleep studies, including diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, to collect accurate data and ensure patient safety.
- Prepare patients for procedures, apply electrodes and sensors, and perform physiological calibrations to ensure proper signals.
- Implement appropriate interventions, including continuous and bi-level positive airway pressure, oxygen administration, and other therapeutic measures.
- Score sleep studies according to established guidelines and prepare detailed reports for physician interpretation.
- Collaborate with healthcare teams to ensure seamless patient care and communicate effectively with patients and families.
- Successful completion of a Polysomnography Program associated with State licensure.
- Previous sleep medicine experience preferred, with BLS certification required within 3 months of hire.
- Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (RPSGT) certification by the Board of Registered Polysomnographic Technologists (BRPT).
This role requires working in a fast-paced sleep lab environment, with occasional exposure to chemical vapors, moving mechanical parts, and pressurized gases. The ideal candidate will be able to work independently, prioritize tasks, and maintain a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
