Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Physician Assistant to join our esteemed Department of Neurosurgery, specifically within the Division of Cerebrovascular Disease and Stroke.
Key Responsibilities:
As a vital member of our interdisciplinary team, you will provide comprehensive medical care to patients in both inpatient and outpatient environments, ensuring the efficient operation of our clinical services.
- Collaborate effectively with the hospital's cerebrovascular disease care teams in both inpatient and outpatient settings.
- Assist in neuro-endovascular procedures within the operating room, supporting faculty and residents.
- Participate in daily rounds for patients who have undergone neuro-endovascular procedures.
- Conduct preoperative assessments and obtain informed consent from patients in outpatient settings.
- Perform follow-up evaluations for surgical patients postoperatively.
- Gather detailed patient histories and conduct thorough physical examinations.
- Coordinate and monitor diagnostic imaging, laboratory tests, and procedural follow-ups.
- Communicate diagnostic results clearly to both providers and patients.
- Prescribe medications and assist patients with pre and post-treatment planning.
- Educate patients and their families regarding cerebrovascular diseases and treatment strategies.
- Keep families informed about procedural timelines and outcomes.
- Document all patient interactions and care in electronic medical records.
- Address patient inquiries and concerns effectively.
- Engage in the education of students and new staff through clinical experiences and knowledge sharing.
- Maintain strict patient confidentiality.
- Ensure certification for Moderate Sedation, BLS, and ACLS is current.
Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication skills and the ability to make independent decisions regarding complex stroke and cerebrovascular disease management. Extensive on-the-job training will be provided.
- Commitment to delivering high-quality patient care in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience as a Physician Assistant is required.
- Preferred background in neurosurgery or operating room settings.
- Current licensure as a Physician Assistant in New York State.
- Certification from the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA).
- Able to work autonomously as well as collaboratively within a team.
- Familiarity with the EPIC electronic medical record system is advantageous.
