Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Social Worker LCSW to join our team in the Emergency Department. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in social work, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities
  • Perform social work assessments and crisis interventions for patients and family members presenting to the Emergency Department.
  • Anticipate patient needs and expectations, and develop appropriate plans of care in collaboration with the healthcare team.
  • Identify psychiatric emergencies, assess potential for self-harm, and coordinate treatment/commitment procedures.
  • Work closely with the primary responder, ED physician, and nursing staff to evaluate and stabilize patients.
  • Facilitate admission and transfer processes to appropriate facilities, as indicated.
  • Identify psychosocial risk factors that may prevent safe return to the community, and provide referrals to out-patient programs and community resources.
  • Provide education and support to patients and families, and maintain accurate and timely documentation.
  • Serve as a patient advocate, responding to complaints and reports, and utilizing the chain of command to resolve issues.
  • Maintain HIPAA privacy and access medical records only as necessary.
Requirements
  • Two years' experience in social work, with a preference for experience in the Emergency Department.
  • Graduate of an Institution certified by the Council of Social Work Education with a Master's in Social Work; LCSW preferred or LMSW actively pursuing LCSW.
  • Current license required by the Texas State Board of Social Work Examiners.
