ROLE SUMMARY: The Architectural Director oversees client interactions, leads a team of Architects, and is responsible for the planning, design, and supervision of building projects.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Evaluate and devise solutions aligned with project goals, program specifications, and budgetary constraints in collaboration with the design team and clients.
  • Engage in various pre-design activities, including feasibility assessments, site selection evaluations, cost assessments, and documentation of design requirements.
  • Create schematic designs, development documents, and final construction plans that detail the building's aesthetics and construction specifics.
  • Formulate project specifications.
  • Investigate local and state building regulations, zoning laws, fire codes, and other legal requirements, including ADA compliance.
  • Develop solutions that align with clients' environmental and sustainability objectives.
  • Regularly visit construction sites to ensure adherence to design specifications, material usage, and quality standards.
  • Collaborate with Project Managers, Project Architects, and various engineering teams to devise innovative, elegant, and efficient solutions.
  • Guide and mentor Architects and the Design team.
  • Adhere to the Company's Quality Control and Project Management protocols.
  • Foster a positive workplace culture to achieve organizational objectives.
  • Perform additional duties as necessary.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Work is conducted in a corporate office setting.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Extended periods of sitting at a workstation and the ability to operate a computer and other office machinery.
  • Must be able to navigate the office to access necessary equipment and facilities.
  • This role frequently involves communication with others and requires the ability to convey accurate information.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A Bachelor's Degree in Architecture or a related field is mandatory.
  • A minimum of 10 years of experience in a senior architectural role is essential.
  • NCARB Architectural Registration in the relevant state is required.
  • Expertise in architectural principles, practices, processes, and project-related issues is necessary.
  • Experience in building planning, drawing standards, design, and construction management is crucial.
  • Strong technical, creative, and visualization drawing capabilities are required.
  • Knowledge of architectural systems design, construction documentation, and related technologies is essential.
  • Exhibit a high level of critical and creative thinking related to design and the design process.
  • Familiarity with architectural specifications, international building codes, life safety codes, and current ADA standards is necessary.
  • Understanding of programming, planning, and building performance is advantageous.
  • Participation in relevant AIA, NCARB, and/or community initiatives is preferred.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
  • Exceptional attention to detail, facilitation, team-building, collaboration, organization, and problem-solving skills are required.
  • Occasional domestic and international travel may be necessary.
  • A valid passport or the ability to obtain one is required.
  • Effective time management skills, personal conduct, and adaptability to change are essential.
  • Ability to interact effectively with colleagues, clients, vendors, and other business contacts.
