Aircraft Technician Job Description
Spartan College of Aeronautics and Technology is seeking a skilled Aircraft Technician to join our team. As an Aircraft Technician, you will be responsible for inspecting, repairing, and maintaining flight school aircraft in accordance with Federal Aviation Regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Troubleshoot, repair, inspect, modify, and service aircraft systems and equipment, airframes, and power plants in accordance with specifications set forth by the manufacturer and the Service Manuals, Service Bulletins, and FAA Regulations.
- Perform scheduled inspections, including 100-hour and annual inspections, as authorized.
- Perform maintenance and repair associated with inspections.
- Perform major and minor repairs and alterations as part of line maintenance, heavy maintenance, and structural repair.
- Maintain and repair equipment used in the department.
- Perform other incidental duties as may be assigned.
Requirements:
- Verifiable, hands-on experience of the actual time spent in the repair, maintenance, overhaul, or manufacture of aircraft is required.
- Ability to work rotating shifts, including weekends, holidays, and days-off.
- Demonstrates good judgment and confidentiality.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills with a strong emphasis on customer service.
- Excellent time management, follow-through, and organizational skills.
- Strong communication and ability to build relationships with all levels of management and pilots.
- Strategic and forward-thinker.
- Ability to handle multiple priorities with a high degree of accuracy.
- Intermediate to advanced computer skills in Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Strong knowledge of flight software (Talon).
Education and Work Experience:
- High School diploma or GED is required.
- Associate degree is preferred.
- 3 years of experience working with general aviation aircraft or similar (Cessna 152, Cessna 172, Cessna 208, Piper Seminole, and Piper Arrow) is required.
Certificates, License, Registrations:
- FAA Airframe and Powerplant License is required.

Specific vision and hearing abilities required by the job include close/distance vision, peripheral/depth perception, and hearing/communicating in noisy environments.
