Job Title: Feed Mill Driver

Job Summary:

This position is responsible for the safe and efficient transportation and delivery of manufactured feed and other feed products. The Feed Mill Driver will also be responsible for the feed manufacturing process, ensuring the production of high-quality feed, and maintaining a clean, organized, and safe facility.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Transportation & Delivery:
    • Transport and deliver feed according to specifications in a safe, timely, and efficient manner.
    • Load and unload the truck according to established standard operating procedures to prevent cross-contamination of feed products.
    • Maintain accurate, complete, and legible records, including log books, delivery receipts, trip reports, vehicle inspection sheets, DOT records, and service records.
    • Notify the Feed Operations Manager of potential feed issues, including but not limited to feed bridging, mold, faulty equipment, property damage, and incorrect placement of feed.
  • Quality Control, Inspection & Sampling:
    • Follow FSMA requirements and guidelines for the manufacturing and delivery of feed.
    • Adhere to standard operating procedures to ensure proper food handling.
    • Properly inspect and sample feed prior to delivery.
    • Recognize and understand different feed rations.
    • Routinely check compartments for feed hang-up between loads.
  • Feed Manufacturing:
    • Consistently manufacture high-quality feed according to specifications and formulated rations provided.
    • Manufacture products and oversee storage, loading, and packaging activities.
    • Accurately load and disinfect trucks for next-day delivery.
    • Maintain all required records and documentation related to feed production.
  • Customer Service:
    • Provide prompt and courteous customer service.
    • Work with customers to resolve problems and report complaints to the supervisor.
    • Attend meetings, trainings, professional development, and continuing education opportunities to increase personal skill and knowledge.
  • Vehicle & Equipment Maintenance:
    • Operate, service, and maintain all feed operations equipment and vehicles in a safe manner.
    • Assist with housekeeping and maintenance of the feed mill, equipment, and vehicles to ensure high safety standards.
    • Maintain inspection and service records on all equipment and vehicles.
    • Communicate recommendations on repairs, replacements, additions, or deletions of equipment when needed.
  • Safety:
    • Hold self and others accountable to safety policies and safe behaviors.
    • Maintain a safe, sanitary workplace in compliance with company policies and regulatory agencies (OSHA, EPA, DNR, DOT, etc.).
    • Identify and communicate workplace hazards and correct unsafe actions and/or conditions.
    Requirements:
    • Valid driver's license.
    • Valid Class A or B CDL (Class A preferred).
    • High school diploma or GED equivalent required.
    • Grain and/or feed experience preferred but not required.
    • Minimum of 1 year driving experience.
    Working Conditions:

This position requires sitting and/or standing for prolonged periods of time and exposure to moving, mechanical parts, dusty conditions, high noise levels, chemicals, and internal and external temperature/weather conditions (from -20 to +100 degrees). The employee may work at elevated heights, in confined spaces, and must be able to adapt to extended-hour workdays. The employee may be required to climb flights of stairs and ladders. The employee must have the ability to lift weights of sixty (60) pounds or less; bending, twisting, and turning while lifting weights of less than fifty (50) pounds; and pushing brooms and shovels. The employee must be willing to work weekends, seasonal hours, holidays, and overtime if needed.
