We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Substitute School Nurse to join our team at The Learning Lamp. As a Substitute School Nurse, you will play a vital role in ensuring the health and well-being of students in multiple school district settings.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct health assessments and screenings as required, monitoring and documenting students' health conditions.
- Administer first aid and emergency care as needed, following established protocols for handling medical emergencies.
- Administer prescribed medications to students according to physician instructions, maintaining accurate records of medication administration.
- Provide health education and guidance to students and staff, promoting health and wellness initiatives within the school community.
- Communicate with parents, teachers, and school staff regarding students' health concerns, collaborating with administrators and teachers to address health-related issues.
- Maintain accurate and confidential health records for students, ensuring compliance with health documentation requirements.
- Conduct vision, hearing, and other health screenings as mandated, referring students for further evaluation as needed.
- Collaborate with healthcare providers, social workers, and other professionals as required, participating in Individualized Education Program (IEP) meetings and 504 plans.
- Implement infection control measures and promote a healthy school environment, following guidelines for disease prevention and control.
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) licensure.
- Willingness to undergo and pass required clearances and training, including mandated reporter training, a physical, and TB test.
- Capacity for sitting, standing, walking, bending, and stopping for long periods of time.
- CPR and First Aid certification.
- Experience in school nursing or pediatric nursing preferred.
- Knowledge of state and local health regulations and guidelines.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
- Flexibility and adaptability to different school settings.
