Family Support Specialist

We are seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Family Support Specialist to join our team at SCMCAA. The successful candidate will provide early childhood education and support services to families in their homes, promoting healthy child development and family well-being.
About the Role
As a Family Support Specialist, you will conduct regular home visits to young children and their families, delivering curriculum-based programs that foster cognitive, social, and emotional growth. You will also facilitate group socialization experiences, provide education and support services, and collaborate with families to establish goals and document progress. Your role will involve advocating for parents and connecting them with community resources, as well as providing transportation to medical appointments and social activities. In addition, you will maintain accurate records of home visits and other activities, while ensuring confidentiality of family information. Key Responsibilities
• Conduct weekly 90-minute home visits to young children and their families, delivering curriculum-based programs that promote healthy child development
• Facilitate group socialization experiences, including playgroups and other activities that foster social skills and emotional intelligence
• Provide education and support services to families, addressing topics such as parenting strategies, child health and nutrition, and access to community resources
• Collaborate with families to establish goals and document progress, using data-driven approaches to inform programming and resource allocation
• Advocate for parents, connecting them with community resources and providing transportation to medical appointments and social activities
• Maintain accurate records of home visits and other activities, ensuring confidentiality of family information
Requirements
• Associate's degree in child development, education, or a related field; Bachelor's degree preferred
• At least one year of experience working with children and families in a human service setting
• Ability to obtain Family Development Credential within 18 months of employment
• Valid driver's license and ability to transport clients safely and efficiently
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a strong commitment to building trust and rapport with diverse populations
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team, prioritizing tasks and managing competing demands
• Willingness to adapt to changing program needs and priorities, while maintaining a focus on delivering high-quality services
• Salary: $45,000 - $60,000 per annum, depending on qualifications and experience
