Field Service Technician for Power Generation

We are seeking a qualified Field Service Technician with expertise in the Power Generation sector to support our operations. This role involves engaging with critical power systems and requires a proactive approach to service delivery. The technician will collaborate with a dedicated team focused on high-quality service across various sectors, including data centers and healthcare.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct start-up, testing, commissioning, and maintenance of low and medium voltage switchgear and automatic transfer switches.
  • Perform troubleshooting, servicing, and repairs on paralleling switchgear, automatic transfer switches, control systems, and mechanical equipment at client sites.
  • Develop and oversee predictive and preventative maintenance strategies.
  • Establish and nurture relationships with customers and vendors while ensuring exceptional quality and technical service.
  • Follow established testing and maintenance protocols for breakers, switchgear, relays, and automation equipment.
  • Facilitate technical training programs for clients, partners, and team members on both new and existing products.
  • Review engineering drawings for quality assurance.
Qualifications
  • A minimum of 5 years of practical experience in preventative and predictive maintenance of power distribution and control systems or equivalent education.
  • Proven experience in the installation, maintenance, testing, and repair of circuit breakers, transformers, switchgear, and related electrical equipment.
  • Familiarity with health, safety, and electrical regulatory codes and standards.
  • Basic computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and the ability to utilize smartphones for daily tasks.
  • Capability to interpret detailed electrical schematics and mechanical diagrams.
  • Strong customer service abilities.
  • Capacity to work independently and in remote environments.
  • Willingness to travel up to 50% of the time.
Preferred Qualifications
  • NETA/NICET Certification (ETT Level II or higher) in electrical equipment testing.
  • Experience in the start-up and commissioning of generator paralleling switchgear.
  • Advanced knowledge of industrial electrical equipment such as switchgear, transfer switches, and generators.
  • In-depth understanding of industrial control systems, including metering, protective relaying, and PLCs.
