Job Summary:

As a Diagnostic Imaging Specialist II - Mammography at Kaiser Permanente, you will play a critical role in assisting physicians in the diagnosis of diseases and injuries. Under the direction of the Imaging Services Director and Chief of Diagnostic Imaging, you will perform radiographic diagnostic imaging procedures to produce high-quality images of the body.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform specialized and routine diagnostic radiology procedures to ensure optimal diagnostic quality of patient care.
  • Exhibit exceptional tact, courtesy, and poise when explaining procedures to patients, reducing anxieties and obtaining patient cooperation.
  • Prepare and position patients for diagnostic imaging procedures, adjusting immobilization devices to obtain optimal views of specified body areas.
  • Determine exposure factors based on patient height, weight, and body portion involved, ensuring proper penetration and image quality.
  • Operate mobile radiologic equipment in operating rooms, emergency rooms, or at patient bedsides, adjusting equipment controls to set exposure factors and produce images of proper detail, density, and accuracy.
  • Assist radiologists and other qualified physicians in fluoroscopic and special x-ray examinations, ensuring accurate and high-quality images.
  • Prepare images for reading by radiologists or requesting physicians, processing and reviewing images for proper identification and quality control.
  • Perform routine maintenance, diagnose malfunctions, and make minor repairs on radiologic equipment, arranging for repairs as needed.
  • Practice radiation protection techniques to minimize radiation to patients and staff, ensuring a safe working environment.
  • Complete forms and maintain records, logs, and reports of work performed, ensuring accurate and up-to-date documentation.
  • Orient new staff and train students, promoting knowledge sharing and skill development.
Requirements:
  • Certified Radiologic Technologist - Venipuncture Certificate (California)
  • Radiologic Technologist Certificate (California)
  • Certified Radiologic Technologist - Fluoroscopy Certificate (California)
  • Basic Life Support
  • California Mammography Certificate (when required for the position)
  • Ability to perform all general diagnostic and routine fluoroscopic duties as determined by the employer
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos
  • Ability to write simple correspondence
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization
