The City of Redding is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented individual to fill the role of Police Cadet within the Redding Police Department. This is an entry-level position that provides exposure to law enforcement procedures and operations.

• Perform filing and recordkeeping duties
• Assist with administrative tasks, such as answering phones and providing information
• Support field operations by performing various tasks, including traffic control and vehicle transportation
• Interact effectively with the public and employees
• Perform related duties as assigned

• High school education or equivalent
• Current enrollment in or completion of classes in Administration of Justice
• Office work experience or prior experience as a police explorer
• Ability to interact effectively with the public and employees
• Ability to read and write
• Ability to maintain a valid California Driver's License

This is a part-time position with a maximum of 950 hours worked per fiscal year. The work hours may vary based on the needs of the department. The position is typically a two-year assignment and does not offer benefits. It is expected that the employee will be working towards a career in law enforcement.
