Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and safety-conscious Bus Driver to join our team at Alhambra Elementary SD. As a Bus Driver, you will be responsible for transporting students to and from school in a safe and efficient manner.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assess incidents, complaints, accidents, and/or potential emergency situations for the purpose of resolving immediate safety issues and reporting the situation to the Director of Transportation.
  • Assist students and other passengers for the purpose of providing proper positioning and/or safe loading and unloading from buses.
  • Communicate with parents, students, teachers, administrators, other drivers, dispatchers, etc. for the purpose of conveying and/or receiving information.
  • Conduct reviews of safety and evacuation procedures for the purpose of ensuring the safety and security of bus passengers.
  • Drive school buses for the purpose of transporting regular education and/or special education students over scheduled routes and to/from school and/or field trips.
  • Maintain assigned vehicle interior for the purpose of ensuring safety, appearance, and sanitation of the vehicle.
  • Monitor students during transit for the purpose of maintaining order and ensuring the safety of passengers.
  • Perform pre-trip and intra-stop inspections for the purpose of ensuring the safe operation condition of the vehicle and to meet state requirements.
  • Prepare documentation for the purpose of providing written support and/or conveying information.
  • Recommend route adjustments for the purpose of coordinating bus routes and maximizing the District's transportation services.
  • Verify student access and egress from the bus for the purpose of ensuring that riders load and unload from the bus at their designated stop.
Requirements
  • Minimum age requirement of 21 years old.
  • Arizona State Drivers License (Class D minimum) without infractions.
  • Arizona Department of Public Safety (DPS) IVP fingerprint clearance card.
  • Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and First Aid Certification.
  • Must submit to annual Motor Vehicle Records Request (MVRR).
  • Must submit and pass a biennial Physical Performance Test.
  • Must submit to drug and alcohol drug screening in accordance with federal laws and Governing Board policies.
Working Conditions

The job is performed under extreme temperatures, workspace restrictions, intense noise, travel, chemicals, odors, blood, and other bodily fluids, and under conditions with exposure to the risk of injury and/or illness.

  • Ability to read and write in order to communicate and receive instruction.
  • Ability to speak polite English in order to communicate and receive instruction.
  • Ability to work with a wide diversity of individuals.
  • Ability to work with similar types of data.
  • Ability to utilize a variety of job-related equipment.
  • Problem-solving is required to identify issues and create action plans.
Salary and Benefits

This is a full-time, ten and a half-month position, beginning salary Level 30, with employee benefits in accordance with Board Policies.

Evaluation

Performance will be evaluated in accordance with Board Policy on the evaluation of support personnel.
