Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Head Lifeguard to join our team at Penn State University. As a key member of our aquatic safety and operations team, you will be responsible for ensuring the safety of all members and guests at our facilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise and lead a team of lifeguards to ensure the highest level of safety and customer service.
  • Conduct regular safety inspections and risk assessments to identify potential hazards and implement corrective actions.
  • Develop and implement training programs to maintain lifeguard certification and enhance skills.
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure seamless operations and effective communication.
  • Manage and maintain accurate records of incidents, accidents, and near-miss events.
Requirements
  • Current American Red Cross Lifeguard Certification.
  • Completion of Penn State University Bloodborne Pathogens training.
  • PA State Police Criminal Background Check, PA Child Abuse History Clearance Form, and FBI Criminal Background Check.
  • Ability to work a variable schedule, including mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Strong communication and leadership skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in aquatic safety and operations.
  • Knowledge of American Red Cross lifeguarding standards and protocols.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for long periods.
