Position Overview for Building Inspection Supervisor

Role Summary:

This role is critical in ensuring adherence to national, state, and local construction codes within the Building Services Department. The incumbent will be responsible for managing and conducting inspections of various structures and properties.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and perform detailed field inspections of construction sites
  • Issue stop-work orders when necessary to ensure compliance
  • Advise on compliance strategies and best practices
  • Examine architectural plans for regulatory adherence
  • Address complaints and provide expert guidance
  • Train, mentor, and assess the performance of team members
  • Provide testimony in legal proceedings and related hearings
  • Evaluate plans for regulatory compliance
  • Document findings and maintain comprehensive records

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of five years in a supervisory construction role
  • Possession of a Florida Registered Architect, Professional Engineer, or General Contractor license
  • Valid Building Inspector and Plans Examiner Licenses
  • Physical capabilities to perform tasks such as bending, crawling, and climbing
