Job Overview: Penn Foster Inc is seeking a dedicated individual to join our team as a Senior Research Scientist/Engineer. This full-time role will focus on the research and production of radionuclides, which are essential for various medical applications.
Key Responsibilities:
- Laboratory Research (85%): Engage in innovative research regarding radionuclide production, including the design and creation of cyclotron targets, as well as developing techniques for isolating and recycling isotope-enriched materials.
- Collaboration: Work closely with affiliated facilities to ensure the efficient production of radionuclides that are in high demand.
- Additional Duties (15%): Support experimental design, assist in data analysis, and contribute to the writing of research proposals and manuscripts. Mentor students and postdoctoral scholars, while maintaining laboratory organization and compliance with safety regulations.
Qualifications:
Candidates should possess a Bachelor’s degree in chemistry or a related discipline, along with a minimum of three years of relevant experience. A solid understanding of handling radioactive materials, particularly short-lived radionuclides, is essential. Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, are required, as well as the ability to learn new techniques swiftly and work independently.
Desired Skills:
- Experience in fields such as Electrochemistry or Materials Science.
- Familiarity with glovebox or hot cell techniques.
- Knowledge of radioanalytical methods.
- Flexibility to work outside of standard hours when necessary.
