Job Title: Registered Nurse

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Registered Nurse to join our team at Ambulatory Surgery Center. As a Registered Nurse, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality patient care and ensuring the smooth operation of our surgical services.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Prepare patients for procedures and assist physicians during surgery
  • Provide care for patients in recovery and participate in Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement activities
  • Organize time, equipment, supplies, and personnel to provide effective and efficient case management
  • Supervise and direct patient care in the operating/procedure room
  • Delegate activities to available staff members and ensure cost containment
  • Assist with supplies, drugs, and equipment inventories to maintain stock levels and availability
  • Transport patients to or from the operating/procedure room, observing policies, procedures, and safety requirements
  • Verify patient identity and procedure details, communicating with the healthcare team
  • Review patient medical records and needs to provide continuity of care
  • Provide comfort and reassurance to patients and maintain their privacy and dignity
  • Verify planned procedures with patients and discuss plans of care
  • Work collaboratively with the healthcare team to prepare the operating/procedure room according to patient, physician, and procedure requirements
  • Ensure sterility and/or high-level disinfection of instruments and supplies according to policy and procedure
  • Handle and log tissue specimens correctly and accurately according to policy and procedures
  • Ensure physician preference cards are maintained and updated as needed
  • Ensure safe positioning of patients according to patient needs and planned procedures
  • Administer medication per physician order and document appropriately
  • Monitor patient condition and maintain accurate documentation during procedures
  • Accurately comprehend and interpret physician orders and direction, following policy and procedures
  • Document medical records and other forms accurately, legibly, and in a timely manner, following policies and procedures
  • Work collaboratively with the healthcare team to ensure safe continuity of patient care according to policy and procedures
  • Confirm proper aseptic and sterile techniques are used according to accepted standards of practice
  • Monitor and identify breaks in sterile technique
  • Verify correct site and ensure all radiologic images are present, as applicable
  • Perform time-out prior to start of procedure, inflation of tourniquet, or incision
  • Ensure correct sponge, needle, sharps, and instrument count (as applicable to the procedure)
  • Perform surgical preparation and other miscellaneous duties as assigned

Candidate Requirements:

  • Proficiency in acute care nursing, knowledge, and skills
  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
  • Current state license to practice as a registered nurse
  • Basic cardiac life support certification and ACLS
  • At least two years of registered nurse experience
