Job Title: Livability Inspector

We are seeking a highly skilled Livability Inspector to join our team at Harford County, MD. As a Livability Inspector, you will be responsible for conducting field inspections to ensure compliance with building codes and regulations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct field inspections to identify non-compliance with building codes and regulations
  • Issue violation notices to property owners and occupants
  • Prepare and maintain inspection reports and daily logs
  • Investigate complaints from homeowners, tenants, and landlords
  • Collaborate with higher-level inspectors on complex issues
  • Provide guidance on building code and livability code requirements
Requirements:
  • Considerable knowledge of modern building construction practices, methods, materials, and equipment
  • Knowledge of building codes and regulations governing building and manufactured housing construction
  • Ability to detect structural and other faults
  • Ability to read and interpret building construction plans and specifications
  • Ability to communicate effectively with builders, engineers, architects, attorneys, and homeowners
