Position Overview
The Culinary Specialist is responsible for delivering prompt, courteous service to residents and staff while adhering to sanitation and safety standards. Key responsibilities include managing inventory in collaboration with the Food Service Director, accurately following recipes to maintain product consistency, and preparing meals for breakfast, lunch, or dinner as assigned. The role also involves ensuring resident dining expectations are met or exceeded and demonstrating knowledge in food preparation techniques. Additional duties may be assigned by the Supervisor as needed.
Key Competencies
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Openness to learning new culinary techniques and presentation styles.
- Understanding of residents' special dietary requirements and appropriate meal preparation methods.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment.
- Skill in managing conflicts or addressing customer concerns.
- Capability to handle multiple tasks efficiently.
- Adherence to food safety and equipment safety protocols.
- Familiarity with community quality standards and regulations.
- Proficiency in short order cooking.
- Dependability, punctuality, self-motivation, and the ability to work independently.
- At least one year of experience in cooking, including short order and quantity cooking.
- Serv-Safe certification is required or must be obtained upon hire.
