Course Overview: Multicultural Graphic Design: This course is designed to broaden the design canon by exploring the historically rich domain of graphic design through various global perspectives. Students will learn how cultural factors influence design principles and practices, emphasizing contemporary multicultural designers. This course fulfills an art history requirement for graphic design majors.
Program Information: The Graphic Design program aims to equip students for creative careers in graphic design and related fields that depend on visual communication. Participants will gain insights into design theories and practices pertinent to production across traditional and emerging digital media. Graduates will possess advanced skills in craft, theory, processes, and technical abilities, enabling them to create thoughtful work in areas such as branding, new media, web development, product design, and more.
Teaching Responsibilities:
- Facilitate effective student learning through the delivery of assigned courses.
- Enhance student engagement by maintaining a consistent presence in the course (minimum of four days per week for online classes) and actively participating in course activities.
- Provide timely and constructive feedback on assessments, adhering to academic unit and university standards, typically within five business days.
- Respond to student inquiries within 24 hours on business days, with extended monitoring during weekends if assignments are due.
- Collaborate within a supportive academic framework, working alongside academic advising and career development teams to ensure student success.
- Complete additional job-related tasks as assigned.
- Adhere to university and academic unit policies and procedures.
Qualifications:
Required Education: Bachelor of Fine Arts in Art History from an accredited institution, along with a minimum of five years of relevant professional or teaching experience.
Preferred Education: Master of Fine Arts in Art History or a related field from an accredited institution, with a strong interest in graphic design.
Required Experience: At least five years of professional experience, familiarity with a Mac-based lab environment, a commitment to serving students from diverse backgrounds, and the ability to adapt to new trends in the discipline with innovative curriculum and teaching methods.
