Mammography Technologist Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled Mammography Technologist to join our team at MDPerm. As a Mammography Technologist, you will be responsible for performing routine and diagnostic mammography exams, breast ultrasounds, and breast ultrasound-guided biopsies.
Key Responsibilities:
- Independently perform routine and diagnostic mammography exams, breast ultrasounds, and breast ultrasound-guided biopsies.
- Assist Radiologists in scheduling and performing needle localizations, stereotactic biopsies, and woman actograms.
- Confer with Radiologists and physicians from various specialties to correlate relevant diagnosis, history, and requested examinations.
- Review medications/medical conditions in accordance with MTF policies and determine if any special patient preparation is required.
- Discuss procedures with patients at the time of scheduling.
- Correctly position patients for examinations and make technical adjustments necessary for the required examination.
- Identify abnormalities during examinations and determine the need for additional views in accordance with MTF procedures.
- Process digital images and submit appropriate image series to Radiologists for interpretation/reading in accordance with MTF protocols.
- Document all procedures and maintain records in accordance with MTF policies.
- Observe and report any symptoms that have direct bearing on the patient's condition to Radiologists.
- Recognize the need for and institute the necessary emergency measures for situations in which an individual may require medical attention.
- Perform system calibrations and quality control tasks in accordance with the manufacturer's and MTF policies.
- Recognize artifacts and equipment errors and notify designated Government personnel of outlying values.
- Perform all mammography Quality Control (QC) tests in accordance with the American College of Radiology (ACR) guidelines and adhere to radiation safety procedures in accordance with the MTF policies.
- Initiate repair call procedures for equipment malfunctions by notifying appropriate personnel.
- Report problems to the biomedical repair section and record the condition in the trouble call logbook.
Working Schedule:
Monday - Friday between the hours of 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM, 7:30 AM - 4:30 PM, and 12:00 PM - 8:30 PM. Saturday: 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM. Employees may work a rotating schedule at times. Services are required on Federal holidays as needed. All employees spend the first six to eight weeks on dayshift for training.
