CEI Inspector

S&ME, Inc. is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented CEI Inspector to join our Transportation team in Asheville, North Carolina. As an entry-level CEI Inspector, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the quality and safety of our construction projects.

• Conduct inspections of contractor operations to ensure compliance with plans and permits.
• Prepare material reports, daily diaries, and field books for payment documentation and maintain detailed records.
• Perform materials sampling/testing, verify line/grade with survey equipment, and conduct calculations.
• Conduct DBE and EEO compliance surveys and inspect erosion control devices for environmental regulation adherence.
• Coordinate with third-party construction personnel and collaborate with higher-level staff for project reviews.

• High school diploma/GED and 0-2 years of highway-related construction or inspection experience.
• 2-year technical degree or higher in Civil Engineering Technology or Surveying Technology.
• Effective communication skills (speaking, reading, and writing) using the English language.
• Effective math skills with a basic understanding of weight, volume, pressure, and units of measure.
• Proficient in completing data entry into multiple software applications on a smart device, using Microsoft Office and email.
• At least one (1) active industry certification (e.g., American Concrete Institute (ACI), International Code Council (ICC), or DOT Certifications).
