Job Overview

As a vital part of our mold maintenance operations at Carfair, you will oversee the effective application of mold release agents, utilizing liquid chemicals while adhering to safety protocols, including the use of nitrile gloves. Your role will involve working with polishing compounds and operating pneumatic polishers to ensure the molds used for part production maintain their gel-coat finish.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain and restore mold geometry according to specifications.
  • Read and interpret blueprints accurately.
  • Utilize pneumatic polishers and various rubbing/polishing compounds effectively.
  • Handle chemicals safely, with personal protective equipment provided.
  • Collaborate with the production team to identify mold-related issues and schedule maintenance.
  • Work independently with minimal supervision while also contributing to team objectives.
  • Demonstrate strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Employ hand tools and pneumatic equipment for patching, sanding, and spraying tasks.
  • Adhere to health and safety regulations and procedures.
  • Perform additional related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Previous experience in mold maintenance, particularly with gel-coat finishes or fiberglass reinforced plastics, is advantageous but not mandatory.
  • Proven troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Physical capability to sit, stand, bend, and kneel for extended periods.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Ability to exercise initiative and sound judgment in a fast-paced environment.
  • Exemplary work record, demonstrating reliability and punctuality.
  • Capability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to follow both verbal and written instructions.
  • Experience in training others is a plus.
