Nurse Practitioner

The Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner is responsible for providing general medical care and treatment to clients, under the direction of a physician. This role requires a Master of Science of Nursing degree from an accredited school of nursing and one or more years' experience as an RN with the client population of the facility line of business.
Key Responsibilities:
- Gather, develop, and evaluate age-appropriate history and physical (H&P) client data in collaboration with the client, family, and healthcare team for physician's use in treating clients.
- Assess, reassess physical, psychosocial, and cultural needs of clients and formulate measures to meet client needs.
- Provide screening and medication management to clients served.
- Establish priorities in planning and organizing client care based on H&P assessment.
- Participate in the formulation of client Master Treatment Plan.
- Encourage family involvement in client care. Respond to identified client and family educational needs. Assist in client teaching as it relates to managing medical needs or medication education.
- Diagnose and treat acute, episodic, or chronic illness, independently or as part of a healthcare team.
- Assist the physician with the clinical operation of the program.
- Document pertinent data including assessment, interventions, and evaluations.
- Collaborate with physicians and other staff on establishing realistic outcome goals as needed.
- Implement appropriate healthcare interventions as needed, using appropriate guidelines of Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) prescriptive practice.
- Review medical reports released under the name of the Facility for assigned clients.
- Provide guidance to the clinical staff working with assigned clients to assure that quality of care is provided.
- Prepare discharge summaries for physician review.
- Under physician collaborative practice agreement as a Family Nurse Practitioner with prescriptive privileges, will call permissible medication to pharmacies.
- Provide on-call responsibilities on a scheduled basis directed by medical staff.
- Focus on health promotion and disease prevention. May order, perform, or interpret diagnostic tests such as lab work and x-rays. May prescribe medication.
