The Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at Children's Minnesota is in search of a fellowship-trained Neuropathologist to enhance our multi-specialty hospital-based pathology team. The expanding neurosurgery service offers a unique opportunity for the selected candidate to significantly contribute to the advancement of this program. Strong communication and leadership skills are vital for success in this position.
Department Insights
Our department handles approximately 10,000 surgical and cytology specimens annually and conducts nearly 1 million laboratory tests each year. We pride ourselves on fostering a collegial and collaborative environment, maintaining close consultative relationships with all clinical and surgical departments.
Case Load and Growth Potential
Currently, our service averages a substantial number of complex cases each year, with expectations for significant growth in the next few years, particularly following the recent establishment of our state-of-the-art iMRI neurosurgical suite. Engagement in neuropathology consultations for our active autopsy service is also welcomed.
Team Composition
The current team comprises 6 pathologists, 2 physicians overseeing transfusion medicine services, a dedicated full-time pathologists' assistant, and an exceptional histology staff. Our subspecialty coverage includes pediatric pathology, clinical microbiology, molecular pathology, and hematopathology.
Qualifications
- Must possess an M.D. or D.O. with a valid Minnesota Medical License or the capability to obtain one.
- Board Certified/Board Eligible in Anatomic Pathology or Anatomic and Clinical Pathology.
- Board Certified/Board Eligible in Neuropathology.
