Description:

As a Pickleball Instructor with the YMCA of Southwest Florida, you will play a vital role in teaching and guiding participants in the art of pickleball. Under the guidance of the Program Director, you will be responsible for planning, organizing, and documenting each lesson to ensure a positive and engaging experience for all participants.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Plan and execute pickleball lessons for enrolled children, ensuring a safe and enjoyable environment.
  • Prepare for special program presentations and ensure all necessary supplies are on hand.
  • Monitor the area at all times to ensure safety and make adjustments as necessary.
  • Provide a positive environment for all participants, encouraging growth and development through active participation.
  • Exemplify appropriate behavior and be a role model for participants, actively listening and showing patience, understanding, and respect for others.
  • Instruct and guide participants through the rules of pickleball, ensuring adherence and discipline when necessary.
  • Exercise effective problem-solving techniques, tackle issues directly, and make timely decisions based on logical conclusions.
  • Ensure the Association provides its services with sensitivity to cultural differences among employees, clients, members, and volunteers.
  • Report all unusual incidents or accidents to the Program Director and complete necessary reports.
  • Record daily attendance and maintain accurate and complete records.
  • Ensure the classroom is neat, orderly, and free of safety impediments.
  • Develop and foster interpersonal relationships between participants and staff, creating an environment of cooperation, friendliness, and helpfulness.
  • Develop and maintain age-appropriate activities and ensure all necessary supplies are on hand and well-maintained.
  • Attend scheduled staff meetings and uphold all staff safety requirements, including cleaning protocols.
Requirements:
  • Prior experience with specialty programs and working with children.
  • Enthusiasm for the arts and children.
  • Ability to adhere to a drug/alcohol/smoke-free workplace policy.
  • Able to maintain confidentiality.
  • Successfully complete State of Florida Criminal History Background Check requirements and meet the Association's policies on background screening.
Certifications and Training Requirements:
  • CPR and First Aid Certifications required.
  • Completion of YMCA Blood Borne Pathogens Training.
  • Completion of YMCA Child Sexual Abuse Prevention class.
  • Staff Safety Requirements/Cleaning Protocols.
  • Additional training classes as recommended by Supervisor.

Salary: $25.00 per hour
