Job Opportunity

The Department of Mathematics at The University of Alabama invites applications for a tenure-track position at the Assistant Professor level in Pure Mathematics.

Position Summary

We are seeking a highly qualified candidate with research and teaching expertise in the area of Topology, specifically in Geometric Topology, including Low Dimensional Geometry and Topology, Symplectic and Contact geometry, and Floer and Khovanov homologies.

Responsibilities
  • Develop a strong research program and pursue external funding
  • Provide stellar education to undergraduate and graduate students
  • Supervise undergraduate research and graduate dissertations
Requirements
  • Doctoral degree in mathematics or a closely related field by August 16, 2025
  • Previous postdoctoral experience is preferred
