About the RoleThe Preservation Specialist for Design Archives will play a critical role in safeguarding the intellectual property and cultural heritage of James Avery. This position is responsible for developing and implementing policies and procedures for archival management and usage, ensuring compliance with industry standards and legal requirements for intellectual property and copyright management.
Key Responsibilities:
- Establish and maintain an efficient archival system for storing and retrieving historical and current design records.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to develop and implement effective strategies for preserving and conserving physical materials.
- Ensure accurate and timely cataloging and digitization of physical items, adhering to established metadata standards.
- Provide expert advice and guidance to teams on accessing and utilizing archival materials.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all archived items, including acquisition, condition reports, and any restoration work done.
- Stay abreast of emerging trends and technologies in archival management and apply this knowledge to enhance our systems and processes.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree in Library Science, Archival Studies or related field; or equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
- 5+ years of experience in archival or project management.
- Demonstrated expertise in archival management software and digital asset management systems.
- Proven track record of delivering high-quality results in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with ability to build strong relationships with diverse stakeholders.
- Able to work independently and collaboratively as part of a dynamic team.
- Travel to various work locations as needed.
Salary Range: $70,000 - $90,000 per year, depending on experience.
