Job Summary

The Phlebotomist I is a vital member of our healthcare team, responsible for collecting patient specimens for diagnostic testing in a professional medical environment. This role requires a high level of accuracy, attention to detail, and excellent communication skills. As a Phlebotomist I, you will work collaboratively with our dynamic team to provide exceptional patient care and contribute to the success of our laboratory services.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Collect patient specimens through venipuncture, fingerstick, and heelstick procedures, adhering to established protocols and guidelines.
  2. Determine the correct priority for specimen collections, ensuring timely transport and processing of patient specimens.
  3. File patient lab reports, requisition charges for the business office, and send reports to outside hospitals and clinics.
  4. Perform complex specimen set-up, enter complex orders and results, and pack and ship infectious materials.
  5. Clean and maintain equipment, centrifuges, and refrigerators, and record daily temperatures of all refrigerators in the phlebotomy areas.
  6. Assist in the training of new associates and students, and act as a receptionist, greeting patients and answering phones within the laboratory.
  7. Document and communicate information thoroughly and accurately, utilizing equipment according to departmental guidelines.
  8. Maintain a neat and clean work area, dispose of waste appropriately, and clean bench areas and equipment.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Preferred: RPT (Registered Phlebotomy Technician) AMT or PBT (Phlebotomy Technician) ASCP certification, and six (6) months of laboratory experience.
Physical Requirements

This role requires regular attendance, the ability to interact with patients and staff, and the capacity to perform physical tasks such as standing for long periods, walking, and bending. The successful candidate will also be able to operate complex lab equipment and computers with precision and accuracy.

Cherry Creek Primary Care, Glendale, Colorado.

Work Schedule

40 hours per week.

Compensation

$18.29 - $22.88 per hour.
