Job Summary

We are seeking a highly qualified Adjunct Professor of Astronomy to join our team at Mt. San Antonio College. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching courses in basic astronomy to a diverse population of students.

Key Responsibilities
  • Teach courses in basic astronomy, including lectures, discussions, and laboratory sessions.
  • Develop and implement engaging lesson plans that meet the needs of students with diverse learning styles.
  • Assess student learning and provide constructive feedback to promote academic success.
  • Participate in departmental meetings and contribute to the development of curriculum and instructional materials.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to promote a positive and inclusive learning environment.
Requirements
  • Masters degree in physics, astronomy, or astrophysics, or a related field.
  • Experience in teaching astronomy at the post-secondary level.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a multicultural environment.
Preferred Qualifications
  • PhD in astronomy or a related field.
  • Experience in teaching astronomy at the community college level.
  • Strong background in astronomy research and publication.
